A French mahogany ormolu mounted portico mantel clock with oscillating movement, Empire ca. 1820-30. Very elegant mahogany veneered mantel clock with exclusive movement: the clock mechanism is also a pendulum. The movement is fitted in the bob of the pendulum and moves when the clock is running. The clock has a silver-plated dial with Roman numerals. The Breguet hands are made of blued steel. The 8-day movement with a pinwheel escapement is powered by two spring barrels. The clock has a countwheel striking mechanism, striking hours and half hour on a bell. The architectural case is based on the classicist triumphal arch, the dimensions are HxWxD 57x31x18 cm.
