A Swiss Louis XVI- gilt brass miniature 'pendule d'officier' with alarm, circa 1800. The clockmaker of this fine miniature clock is probably Courvoisier. 30 hour spring driven movement with verge escapement, rack half hour/hours striking and alarm on a bell. Classic Louis XVI period 'pendule d'officier', original gilding in excellent condition. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, Breguet hands and alarm setting hand in the front. Hour striking on a bell and pull repeat. The gilt brass drum case with concave sided top surmounted by a snake handle: Ouroboros, the snake eating its own tail, symboling cyclicality, especially in the sense of something constantly re-creating itself, the eternal return. The case standing on ball and claw feet. HxWxD 10x6,5x6. cm. € 7.800,-- SOLD
