A fine Art Deco Reutter Atmos clock, nickel, no. 3645, France ca. 1930.

Nr. 183. A fine Art Deco Reutter Atmos clock, nickel, no. 3645, France ca. 1930. Transparency through the four walls of glass, nickel case. Dial with in Art Deco style written Arabic numerals and signature ‘Atmos, Pendule Perpétuele, Made in France’. On the back signed ‘Brevets J.L. Reutter, S.G.D.G., Made in France’ and numbered 3645. Working: The Atmos clock contains a drum with an U-shaped tube containing mercury and a gas. Due to temperature changes a ‘thermics’ develops in the drum and causes the axle with the U-shaped tube to oscillate to and fro. Because of the continuous changes in temperature and atmospheric pressure there is a continuous oscillation which causes the movement to roll permanently, we have a ‘Pendule Perpétuele’. The invention was the work of the French engineer Jean Léon Reutter. The clock is in a perfect condition. Very exclusive in this Art Deco design. HxWxD 24x17,50x14 cm. SOLD Price € 17.500,--
