No. 105. A fine late 17th century lantern clock by Joseph Windmills of London, circa 1680-1700. The case with five finials and three decorative pierced frets and wingframe, over gently tapering columns to all feet. Wide silvered roman chapter ring. A foliate engraved centre with signiture J.Windmills London, single hand, weight driven movement, verge escapement, duration 30 hours, countwheel hour strike on bell. This very fine winged lantern clock made circa 1680s-1700 by the famous Joseph Windmills of London. HxWxD 40x30x18 cm. SOLD Price € 9.500,--(euro). The clockmaker: Joseph Windmills (c1640-1724), was an eminent London watch- and clockmaker who, with his son Thomas, produced outstanding timepieces between 1671 and 1737. Joseph Windmills was made Master of the Clockmakers Company in 1702.
