A square horizontal gilt brass table clock, signed Albrecht à Berlin, circa 1700. A so-called ‘Horizontal Tischuh’ or table clock, four corner ornaments with caryatids and four gilded bronze relief panels decorating the sides with Biblical scenes. Religious inspiration was part of daily life and the panels illustrate an ara. The clock movement has a 30-hour verge escapement, with an alarm mechanism on a bell. Dial with Roman chaptering, single hand, alarm disk in the middle. Small flower engraving on the four corners. The Berlin clockmaker David Nicolaus Albrecht worked between ca 1680 and 1720. His signature can be found on the back plate, beautifully detailed interior. Dimensions HxWxD 8x10,5x10,5 cm. SOLD Price € 12.500,--
