SOLD No 070. An attractive Temple de L'Amour, Pendule à Cercles Tournants, France 1780. This sophisticated clock, made in white and grey marble, gilt bronze and porcelain biscuit, is in the shape of a circular temple in the tradition of the ancients, consisting of four columns whereby in the middle the young allegorical figure of Love. The upper part contains the clockwork mechanism, consists of two horizontal turning rings in white enamel, the Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for indicating the minutes. , one for the hours, one for the minutes, opposite a fixed pointer. Eight-day spring driven movement, driving the two horizontal chapter rings, countwheel half hour striking on a bell. Sunburst pendulum.
