An extremely rare, early Austrian carriage clock - Officer's clock with quarter striking by Ignatz Jahnn, Tyrnau, circa 1775. Brass case and enamel dial painted with delicate summer flowers. A square brass full plate movement, chain-fusee, 3 barrels, 2 hammers, 2 bells, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance. Striking quarters and hour self strike and quarter repeater. Carriage clock in its original leather-covered travelling box. . The open-work back is hinged. An unusual feature is the repeater release that sits on the right hand side and comes in the form of a blued strip. The case, the dial and the movement are in a very good condition.
