No 178. Atmos clock, nickel case J. L. Reutter, no 1397, France ca. 1930. Nickel case, transparency through the four glasses, white enamelled dial, Roman chapters. With the original Atmos clockwork. Mercury- and gas volume fluctuates under the changing weather conditions, in particular temperature. This generates continuously the power for the movement and therefore this clock is called a Pendule Perpétuelle. The invention was made by a French engineer Jean Leon Reutter. The clock is signed: Pendule Perpétuelle, Brevets J.L. Reutter. No 1934 on the back. Exceptional timepiece style wise and with advanced engineering, invention by the French engineer Reutter.
