Case veneered with ebony wood, gilt basket top and repoussé ornaments.. High 39 cm. Signed : ‘Joseph Norris‘. Amsterdam, circa 1690. Joseph Norris (1650-1696?) born in Abbington, England. Became one of the most important clockmakers in Amsterdam and pioneer of the making of Dutch longcase clocks. Had a working cooperation with Fromanteel. Literature: Dr R.
