No. 122. Sorg-Uhr, an attractive miniature wall clock, alarm, striking hours on a bell, South Germany, 1850. A miniature German Black Forest alarm/striking so-called 'Sorg' wall clock. 30-hour weight driven movement with anchor escapement,alarm and striking hours on a bell, suspended pendulum. Chased brass front and wood case. Original hinged doors. Ø 5,5 cm enamel dial with Roman numerals. Above the dial lovely floral decorations. Named after Joseph Sorg and family Sorg in Neustadt, who around 1820 manufactured these type of clocks. The ”Sorg” clock was the smallest wall clock with an extremely small clock- work and a shield height of approximately 7 cm. Originals are rarely found and well sought after by collectors.
